Rhinoplasty, or ‘Nose Job’ as it is commonly called, is a surgical procedure to alter the shape and size of the nose, to make it more cosmetically elegant.
Rhinoplasty can be done to correct the following conditions: Removing a hump from the nose Straightening the nose bridge Fixing any asymmetry Reshaping the tip of the nose Narrowing or widening of the nostrils Post-injury correction Making the nose bigger or smaller OPEN RHINOPLASTY In open Rhinoplasty, the incision or cut for the surgery is given at the columella (the narrow strip between the two nostrils) and inside the nostrils. This provides the surgeon with a wide reach, and is done for more extensive corrections. The incision for open rhinoplasty is placed in such a way, that once healed, it is barely visible. CLOSED RHINOPLASTY In closed Rhinoplasty, the incision is placed inside the nostrils, and there is no visible scar on the outside after the surgery. Closed Rhinoplasty is done only in cases where minor corrections are required.
